Gurgaon |
Gurgaon
beats leading Asian cities like Singapore and Hong Kong in quality of life.
Here’s why.
In a recent Quality of
Life Index report, Gurgaon overall ranked higher than leading Asian cities
Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur!
In this year’s Quality
of Life Index report by data provider Numbeo, Gurgaon, Haryana has beaten
leading Asian cities Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur in the rankings.
Gurgaon came in at number 141 in the report which estimates the
overall quality of life in areas, including purchasing power, pollution, cost
of living, safety, among others. Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur came in
at 145, 155 and 173 respectively.
In a recent article by The Huffington Post India, it was
suggested that the news “may surprise many of it’s residents,” and whilst this
may certainly be true, why is this the case? Moreover, what gives countries
like Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur their reputation as leading Asian
countries, and how has a lesser-known Asian city in India Gurgaon managed to
beat them in the world-rankings?
In the report, Gurgaon rated ‘High’ in terms of
purchasing power and health care, ‘Very Low’ on cost of living and ‘Moderate’
for property price to income ratio, all helping to boost its position in the
report.
Singapore |
Gurgaon has shown
tremendous improvements on the overall index and could very well be inching
it’s way into the Top 5 most liveable cities in India.
Other high-ranking Indian
cities to feature in the list were Mangalore, at 48, and Pune, at 102.
